Mares

PitterPatterPonies mares are treated as individuals. Most have a showing history. We don't like using smaller mares for larger stallions; we think it causes problems for the mares and foals.

We have some refined oversized mares of different colours which should breed downsized foals with interesting coat patterns that we can continue to downsize with our long term breeding programme.

A selection of our mares are shown below

PPP TOOTSIE. BMHS & IMHPS.  Sire Littlefields Magpie, Tri colour 28inch out of PPP Jezabelle. July 2001. Tootsie is a 28 1/4inch red and white refined mare with an extremely pretty head. She was shown in 2004 qualifying for MHCGB, IMHPS & BCC. Easy to handle, fabulous mother and easy breeder. She has produced an outstanding foal, "Charlie" (see our foals). She has been covered by Kilcummer White Wings (see our stallions for a 2005 foal).

AURIC FLYTE. 1.7.2000. BMHS & IMHPS. 31 3/4inch. A most unusual mare, her coat is base palomino however she is tri-spotted, Shown successfully in 2004, this beautiful mare qualified for IMHPS, MHCGB and BCC Championships in spotted, 4yr & over, Showmanship and young handler classes. Covered by Conundrum Tia Dream Catcher (see our stallions) for a 2005 foal.

PPP EXCEL DREAMGIRL. 2001. BMHS & IMHPS. Sire Looking Glass Excel (See our stallions) out of Molly My Girl (see our mares). Dark bay 32inch quality mare. Shown in 2004 for the first time, coming first in IMHPS 2&3yr old at Stafford County Festival, also qualifying for MHCGB, IMHPS and BCC Championships. Refined with gorgeous head and movement this stunning mare has been covered by Kilcummer White Wings (see our stallions) for a 2005 foal.

BOUNTIFUL GIRL. 2002. IMHPS. Sire Tiny Tim (Spotted Pony Society) 29inch, Dam Miss Money Penny (Snowflake). This bay roan spot filly who is spotting out more each year is 31inch, has a beautiful dished face, excellent body shape and confirmation. This pretty girl has been covered by Conundrum Tai Dream Catcher (see our stallions) for her first foal due in 2005.

MOLLY MY GIRL. 7 year old minimal skewbald. Excellent foundation broodmare (dam of PPP Excel Dreamgirl and PPP Buckeroo).Eye-catching, striking mare that was shown successfully in 2004. Exceptionally pretty head with large kind eyes and refined legs.

CRYSTAL RED. 13 year old chestnut SPSBS and IMHPS reg 31 3/4inch mare with a refined head and legs. Producer of mainly filly foals who are tiny and remain 30inch or under. Although she may seem a plain chestnut mare, she never stops surprising us with her beautiful babies and being a subdominant colour her genes seem to act like a blank canvass for the stallions genetics. A kind and thoughtful mare who always catches first season, breeds easily and is a most attentive and loving mother. Although, like most mares, she is protective of her foals, she has immense pride in them and pushes them forward to greet you with an attitude of "look at this one - isn't it gorgeous?" Like Pwllda Lady, she was used by Mrs Pooley to breed her Earlsdon Prefix Shetlands.

AMAZING MAISIE. 8 year old 32inch broodmare registered IMHPS. Maisie certainly lives up to her name. She had been a pet/companion but had not been handled much and so was quite 'stand-offish' when she came to us. We let her find her feet (hooves - sorry!) in the herd. She caught our eye as she has such a lovely shape, head and movement so decided to show her as the mare we had planned to take to a show was in season. She was clipped, bathed, boxed and off before she had time to think. Although nervous, for her first class she'd picked up enough courage and enthusiasms to receive a 1st rosette and go onto receive a sash at her second show. An exceptional mare, which enjoys the limelight and endeavours to please you. What more can you ask? Maisie is a real star who just shouts out "quality." Covered by Looking Glass Excel (see our stallions) for a 2005 foal.

Our Oversized Mares

We sincerely believe that by using oversize mares of good quality, long legs and correct confirmation and breeding them to smaller refined stallions that, with our long-term breeding plan, we can produce a more correct miniature horse.

BLUE SEQUIN CASCADE (FLO) 36 1/4inch Grey and white (1/7/99) IMHPS registered. Flo is a Welsh A x miniature with the most fabulous action. She has long refined legs, pretty head, large eyes and tiny ears. Covered by Kilcummer White Wings (see our stallions) she should have a beautiful downsized foal whilst maintaining her grace and elegance.

MAXIMUM IMPACT (MAXIE) 36 1/2inch Grey roan few spot (7/5/02) IMHPS registered. Sire: Pinball Wized. Dam: Misty Merrylegs. Poor Maxie tended to be overlooked as she was gangly and awkward as a youngster. Now she is really blooming into an attractive young lady. A charming, easy to do, never any bother type of lass that's easy to have around. Covered by Little Fields Talisman for a 2005 foal.

SUZY SUPERSTAR (SUZY). 37inch (1/7/01). A most unusually marked mare. She has spotted characteristics and with a few white spots, base coat of grey roan that goes almost pink in the summer, but is coloured also. Suzy has four white stockings, one broken with a dark brown patch. She's a 'lover her or hate her' type as she's such a mixture.

Suzy moves with a floating action and gives the impression of power and agility. When shown she has the ability to make you think 'unexploded bomb,' covering the ground with such ease and elegance you're left waiting for the bang! By downsizing and refining we may just get it!

CHANEL OF MEADOWACRE. 36inch Pinto/Spot mare. Sire: Hermits Fantasy BSpPs. Dam: Verity of Southfield Gate. Believed in foal to Mexico of Meadowacre, a refined, highly regarded miniature coloured stallion. Although a recent acquisition, she is a top quality easy to handle, lovable mare who comes into her own when showing. (See show results). Chanel has a beautiful head, large kind eyes, exquisite movement and ultra refined legs. A real find, to which we must express our gratitude to Richard Perry of Pennrad Stud for allowing us the opportunity to add Chanel to our stud.
